Scottish Highland Shellguard Longsword
Provenance of this sword favours the last quarter of the 16th century; it is the last pattern of the Highland Longsword, as used in battle until the late 17th century by highland clansmen.
The double fullered blade with its lenticular form expressed all the qualities of its predecessor, the quarterfoil pattern, as carried by the elite core of Hebridean Gallowglass swordsmen. A beautifully balanced blade with exceptional handling capabilities, its lightness in the hand enabled it to accomplish all the movements of the German two-handed sword fighting techniques.
